NaNoWriMo

What is NaNoWriMo? It stands for National Novel Writing Month and is held each year during the month of November. The goal is simple: write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days.

In 2007, I found out about it about halfway through the month, so I was already at a massive disadvantage. There’s no reason why I couldn’t have gone through into December, but I figured that I’d aim for the November 30 deadline anyway.

I ended up writing just over 50,300 words. It was insane. It was fun. It was stressful. I still and to go to work, I still had to go do the shopping and I still had to sleep. But it did allow me to learn a lot and get creative.

I like it, but I wrote it so I’m slightly biased. You can read Search for Leshem (html version) online or you can download the pdf version (right click and save as) and read it at your leisure. If you want to leave any comments, you can do so here on my blog.

Writing at such an intense pace is a really weird feeling. I recommend giving it a go! It’s mad fun…
